Do you need PrEP?

PrEP can help you to prevent catching HIV. PrEP is a really effective way to prevent HIV, but do you need it?

Take a break
You don’t need PrEP if you are not having sex. However, now is a great time to think about the future. What do you want your sex life to look like? Will PrEP be part of the plan?

Just Us
As PrEP becomes more available, is it time to review things? Most people in a relationship simply do not need PrEP. However some couples may find it useful.

Condoms plus
Condoms and PrEP are both really effective at preventing HIV. The big advantage of condoms is that they also protect against many other sexually transmitted infections. If you are happy with condoms there is no need to change. You don’t need PrEP. You are already protected.

Total bareback
If you have condomless anal sex with multiple partners we strongly recommend you consider PrEP. Although it’s not freely available on the NHS they are several ways you can get it. Walk into Dean Street Express and we can explain your options.

Get checked

If you aren’t protecting yourself with PrEP or condoms, we recommend you test for HIV every month and get a full STI checkup every 3 months. Don’t forget, you can use the PRIME text to walk into Dean Street Express without an appointment. You can also order a home HIV test online here.
